Wines Feudi del Pisciotto

"Wine is a mixture of light and earthy humors..."
Galileo Galilei

Feudi del Pisciotto is an old manor with 44 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG area, and a point of reference for wine lovers, thanks to wines that have won prizes all over the world. These include the Nero d'Avola Versace, which was included in the top 100 wines in the world by Wine Spectator. Alongside the top quality basic line, Baglio del Sole also offers the Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection, a line that combines excellent quality wine with the beauty of labels created by the most important Italian Fashion Designers. L’Eterno, pinot noir in its purest form and the Grand Vin of the winery, is the symbol of the quality of the wine making project of Feudi del Pisciotto, and its commitment to social issues.

The Feudi del Pisciotto winery combines respect for tradition and nature with the most modern technology, and produces around 400,000 bottles with 16 different labels. At Feudi del Pisciotto, the union between ancient and modern is also celebrated by bringing back the old wine making process that only uses the force of gravity for moving the must. In fact, the grapes are picked by hand in the vineyard, and after further sorting and removal of the stalks, they slide into the vats in the Winery, moved by the force of gravity. This saves energy and limits carbon dioxide emissions, but above all, it prevents the deterioration of the raw material that would take place if oenological pumps were used to move the grapes.

L'Eterno The Grand Crus
Feudi del Pisciotto

Pinot Nero

100% Pinot nero. It’s the grand vin of the estate, inspired by the great Giacomo Tachis who had perfect knowledge of this noble grape variety, atypical for Sicily and yet offering a rather striking opportunity for expression on the island. An expression of clear Burgundian character, consistent, but at the same time exceptionally fine and elegant. The label depicts the hand of Eterno, a detail of Giacomo Serpotta’s eponymous triptych whose restoration was funded by the Feudi del Pisciotto estate, together with the involvement of some of Italy’s biggest fashion designers who have designed the labels for the Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection.

The grape variety that best expresses the character of Sicily’s oenological tradition. This wine, meticulously produced using the estate’s finest resources, expresses in absolute purity the extraordinary elegance and ability of a wine destined to improve over time. Drawn by Donatella Versace, the label is a tribute to the strong personality of Sicilian terroir and wines. The Nero d’Avola 2015 –Versace label has been included in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list in 2017, therefore proclaiming it one of the 100 best wines in the world.

Giambattista Valli Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Cerasuolo di Vittoria

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the first and only Sicilian DOCG wine. A wine with a great personality obtained through the vinification of the Frappato and Nero d’Avola grape varieties. It has been included in the "Tre Bicchieri 2020" list by Gambero Rosso. A wine with a very intense and persistent scent reminiscent of ripe pomegranate, a deep cherry red colour, it is warm and full-bodied in the mouth. Drawn by Giambattista Valli, the label recalls the elegance and the finesse of this wine that best expresses the character of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG

Merlot Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Merlot

Produced from one of the first vineyards planted in 2002. A Merlot in purity that expresses the full potential and character of this grape variety, which finds an ideal form of expression in Sicily’s terroir. Wine characterized by an important structure and power, while at the same time displaying exceptional elegance.

Missoni Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Cabernet Sauvignon

In Sicily the Cabernet Sauvignon varietal acquires absolutely unique characteristics. Lacking strong vegetal notes, this 100% Cabernet is a wine of great structure with a polyphenolic component ideal for optimal ageing. Drawn by Angela Missoni, the label is a tribute to the oenological multiculturalism of Sicily, where the combination of colours and patterns – like the countless vines that proliferate on the island – creates a fascinating final harmony.

Carolina Marengo Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Frappato

As is the case with the Nero d’Avola variety, Frappato also demonstrates Sicily’s full winemaking potential, able to produce a powerful, persistent and very elegant wine that inspires the audience from its very first olfactory notes, which characterize it in an unmistakable manner. The label is a tribute to the finesse and freshness of Frappato imagined by Carolina Marengo for Feudi de Pisciotto.

Grillo

Grillo is perhaps the most widespread vine in Sicily after Nero d'Avola. This wine, 100% Grillo, is a very pleasant, aromatic and fresh white. The sensual label, conceived by Carolina Marengo for Feudi de Pisciotto, evokes the harmony and freshness of Grillo.

Alberta Ferretti Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Chardonnay

Sicily can be appreciated not only for its red wines, but also for its whites. Chardonnay is perhaps the one that has the best adaptability among all non-native white grape varieties. In this 100% Chardonnay, the classic varietal notes are highlighted and a prominent acidity gives freshness and also makes it ideal for ageing. Graphic, clean, modern. The Alberta Ferretti label portrays very well the classic character of this international variety.

Alaziza Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Viognier / Zibibbo

Straw yellow color. On the nose, the aromas of exotic fruit and peach, characteristic of the Viognier, are accompanied by the pleasant aromatic notes of orange blossoms typical of the Zibibbo. In the mouth a strong acidity supports the structure, giving drinkability and harmony.
The French fashion designer Stephan Janson, based in Italy since his first collection launched in 1989, has drawn a label that evokes elements of the Sicilian landscape in a dreamlike atmosphere.

Blumarine Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Moscato

Produced from a late harvest, the wine brings out all of the rare aromatic characteristics of the grape variety. Despite its remarkable structure, this wine displays outstanding pleasantness and is therefore exceptionally easy to drink. An enveloping, sensual label, as snappy as the notes of this aromatic wine, matured under the Sicilian sun.

Gianfranco Ferrè Italian Fashion Top Designers Wine Collection

Gewürztraminer / Sémillon

A true challenge: Gewürztraminer and Semillon, two uncommon vines for Sicily, yet selected and used in equal proportions to bring to life a Passito wine atypical for the island. The intensely aromatic notes of Gewürztraminer blend perfectly with the excellent structure of the Semillon; everything is supported by a perfect acidity. On the label, the masterful stroke of Gianfranco Ferrè, an architect keen on fashion, tells the story of this great international varietal “marriage" in Sicily.

Nero D'Avola

The world has now discovered Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s most important, if not the easiest of grape varieties. Rare in nature, this pure Nero d’Avola owes its existence to a careful selection of grapes that aim to produce a high quality and affordable wine, exclusively characterized by the qualities of this native grape variety.

Baglio del Sole Collection Feudi del Pisciotto

Merlot / Syrah

Two big international grape varieties that thrive in the Sicilian terroir. Characterized by a ruby red colour with purple hues. The wine displays a full and intense aroma, reminiscent of red fruits and sweet vanilla. Fresh, soft and balanced on the palate, with a complex finish with notes of cocoa and vanilla. A wine of great structure, without losing its elegance and drinkability.

Inzolia

A white wine produced in Sicily, where the sun seems to burn everything in sight? Yes, because the Inzolia grape variety has undergone a process of self-selection over the centuries aimed at preserving the wine’s aromas and delicacy, similar to the characteristics of offshore wines. A wine that is easy to drink thanks to its aromas and pleasantness on the palate.

Baglio del Sole Collection Feudi del Pisciotto

Inzolia / Catarratto

The combination of the two noblest white grape varieties, whose full potential is only now being fully understood, particularly when it comes to the Catarratto variety, historically used in the production of Marsala. Combined together in similar percentages (although varied from vintage to vintage), the two varieties create a wine with a strong personality, unique in the world.

Nature and Sustainability

The Terroir

The wine making process of Feudi del Pisciotto is based on the philosophy of the master Italian winemaker Giacomo Tachis, according to which the “terroir of Sicily allows any type of vine to be grown successfully, with the right knowledge”.

The labels of Feudi del Pisciotto are the result of the genius of Tachis and the skills of his heir apparent, Alessandro Cellai, wine maker and Managing Director of the winery together with resident wine maker Marco Parisi. And Feudi del Pisciotto owes its 100% Pinot Noir known as L’Eterno, which has been in production since the 2011 harvest, to one of Tachis’ intuitions.

The excellence of the wines of Feudi del Pisciotto is the result of careful study, passion and dedication. The wine is produced with respect for nature and in line with the principles of sustainability. The indigenous and international vines are grown with care and love to guarantee a finished product of the highest quality.

The Wine Maker

Alessandro Cellai

When Tachis named Alessandro Cellai his heir apparent, he allowed him to make use of the experience of 50 years of harvests, which led to the Italian Winemaking Renaissance. Alessandro was nominated best young wine maker in Canada, and in other countries, seven years in a row, and he also personally deals with company’s exports to many different countries, including the United States and Russia.

Feudi del Pisciotto makes use of the invaluable professional skills of Marco Parisi as a resident wine maker. Marco took a degree in wine growing in Marsala, specialized in Asti and did a postgraduate Master’s Degree in Lisbon. After gaining experience on an international level, he joined Alessandro Cellai’s team, and put his experience in South Africa into practice in a project to recover indigenous Sicilian vines, among other things.
